MMA
- Mixed Martial Arts tries to combine the best of various fighting
styles such as Wresting, Ju Jistu, Thai Boxing, Kung Fu, etc.
Today this discipline gains great popularity around the globe. Some
of the major tournaments are UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship),
Pride, King Of the Cage, etc.
In Mixed Martial Arts, one combines striking, kicking, clinch, throws
and grappling to submit the opponent.
At Nia Kwang we see this as a great addition to our traditional
Kung Fu training.
Our MMA training comprises of a short warm up, breakfalls, ground
drills, striking, kicking of pads, grappling and free sparring.
In order to gain proficiency in the various fields, we practice
the stand up and ground game separately. Afterwards we combine them.
T o ensure the safety of the students, practice takes place on mats
and protection gear such as mouth guard, head gear, shin protectors,
gloves (Boxing or MMA), etc. will be worn. Again, safety of the
students is most important to us. We hope to create a positive and
safe training environment for the students. The student will take
his training at his own pace and abilities. He will not be forced
into any training he does not feel ready for.
At Nia Kwang MMA, we are open minded and hope to provide a good
platform for exchange of knowledge and skills. We welcome students
from other martial arts disciplines to share and exchange their
knowledge with us in order to help everybody improve the game.
MMA is a fantastic all over body and mind workout. There are endless
things to learn and to improve on.
