Our
Kung Fu training curriculum comprises of a few elements which I
will describe in more details below. Some should be followed, others
are optional depending on the student's interests and abilities.
All excercises are being conducted by trained professionals and
under strict supervision only. The health and well being of our
students is utmost important to us.
1. General fitness, strengthening and stretching excercises
In order to prepare the students for the physical demanding Kung
Fu training, we teach them general fitness excercises first . Every
training will start with a 20-30 min warm up which can comprise
of running, star jumps, push ups, sit ups, etc. followed by stretching
of arms, legs & body.
Great improvement in strength and flexibility should be visible
after 3-6 months (weekly training 2-3 times).
2. Conditioning
training
Conditioning of hands, arms, body and legs through specific excercises.
We emphasize that all excercises should be done in a moderate way.
Conditioning excercises are optional and will not be taught to children.
These exercises are more relevant for those students who are also
interested in sparring training.
3. Foundation
training
Here basic stances, body postures, striking, defending and kicking
will be taught. A beginner will need to complete 10 sets of fundamental
movements before advancing to the form training.
4. Form training
After finishing the foundation training the form training will start
with a basic form. With increased proficiency of the student, the
degree of difficulty of the forms will also increase. Once the student
is familiar with the fundamental hand forms, weapon froms will be
introduced. Some of the common weapons are saber, double saber,
pole, spear, sword, umbrella, dagger and many more.
We would like to emphasize that it is not important how many forms
a student has learned but how well he has mastered them and how
well he can use them during sparring.
5. Sparring/Self
defense
Sparring training is more for the advanced student who has completed
at least the foundation training and learned some forms. It includes
striking and punching of pads, pre determined set sparring as well
as free sparring. Free sparring is practiced without hand and foot
protectors but with a high level of control. Free sparring with
protectors is practiced during the Mixed Martial Arts training.
Sparring training is optional.
6. Body mechanics
and fighting strategy
Besides the practical training, we have an open discussion forum
for our students to discuss about fighting principles and strategies.
It is important for the student to reflect on his training and ask
questions to further improve his understanding and knowledge. After
every training we have question and
answer sessions.
